Red light therapy (RLT) is a treatment that uses low levels of red light to reportedly improve your skin’s appearance, like reducing wrinklesscars, redness and acne. It’s also touted to treat other medical conditions.

Red light therapy is thought to work by acting on the “power plant” in your body’s cells called mitochondria. With more energy, other cells can do their work more efficiently, doing things like repairing skin, boosting new cell growth and enhancing skin rejuvenation. More specifically, certain cells absorb light wavelengths and are stimulated to work.

REDUCED PAIN

In clinical study, neuropathic pain caused by a spinal cord injury was dramatically reduced by the application of red light treatment. Near-infrared light wavelengths reduce overall pain easing joint stiffness and soreness, diminishing inflammation, easing muscle spasms and enhancing blood flow. 

HAIR & SKIN GROWTH

LED light can dramatically transform the skin & hair. Red light wavelengths in particular target the mitochondrial chromophores within skin cells, generating production of collagen proteins. Alopecia, or hair loss, is a common disorder affecting 50% of males over the age of 40 and 75% of females over the age of 65. Studies have shown that LED light therapy stimulates hair growth. Red light wavelengths are believed to stimulate epidermal stem cells in the hair follicle, shifting the follicle into the anagen (active growth) stage. 

IMPROVED RECOVERY & CIRCULATION

For high-performance athletes (and those who train like them) LED light therapy can help accelerate muscle repair following fatigue and injury. Mitochondria within cells are particularly responsive to LED light therapy. In many studies, LED light therapy has been clinically proven to increase the diameter of blood vessels and improve circulation. 

INCREASED TESTOSTERONE IN MEN

Around the age of 30, male testosterone levels naturally start to decrease. Men hoping to achieve a natural boost to their sec drives, sexual satisfaction, fertility, and physical performance can reap benefits from LED light therapy.

CELLULAR HEATH

The most significant benefit of LED light therapy is the effect it has on the body's cells. One of the most critical outcomes of LED light therapy on cellular function is the stimulation of collagen production. Collagen strengthens hair, is responsible for the health of connective tissue and provides our skin with firmness and elasticity.

REDUCED INFLAMMATION

Near- infrared (NIR) light reduces overall inflammation in the body by decreasing inflammatory markers. This reduction can help ease the symptoms associated with joint pain, sore muscles, autoimmune diseases, arthritis, traumatic brain injuries, and spinal cord injuries.

  • There have been thousands of studies on the effects of red light on the body. Red light has been consistently shown to have little or no adverse effects.  If you have a preexisting medical condition or a specific medical question, you should consult with a medical professional prior to use.

  • To achieve the best results, we advise using red light therapy 3 times per week. If possible, using red light therapy every other day yields the best results.

  • Results depend on the length of treatment and the original conditions being treated. Skin rejuvenation is a dynamic process. If maintenance treatments are discontinued, natural expression lines will gradually return over the course of time, at which point re-treatment can be put into place.
